Poklonnaya Mountain is the most important memorial in honour of the victory over Nazi envasion in the Great Patriotic War. The memorial was opened in 1995 to honour the 50 anniversary of the victory, after a granite sign was erected there in 1958 stating that there shall be a monument there to the victory of the Soviet people. This complex of churches, museums, armour display, monuments and fountains stands on 135 hectares.
